This section deals with the various transportation options relating to the Lower Mainland. It includes arrivals and departures to and from the region as well as movement within it.
Vancouver International Airport is situated on Sea Island between Vancouver and Richmond. It is within 45 minutes drive from most of the population of the Lower Mainland.
Pacific Central Station is housed in the Heritage structure orginally used as the Canadian National Railway western terminal. It is the railway and bus hub in Vancouver for regional travel.
Canada Place is a major Vancouver attraction for architectural reasons and is in most cases the point of departure for Alaska Cruises. It is the centre of the downtown core conceptually if not geographically because of all the activities that involve this structure. Ballantyne Pier, just to the east of Canada Place, older and refurbished, requires a bus or cab ride to/from the downtown core.
The largest ferry fleet in the world travels the west coast of British Columbia.
